This year has been a great equalizer. We’ve all dealt with at least some (if not a great deal of) turmoil and what a blessing it has been. This year has given us an incredible opportunity to see what and who truly matters. Our priorities have been in an almost constant state of reshuffling.

I began the year talking about focus piggybacking on a theme many picked up on around 20/20 vision. I actually believe that 2020 has delivered that focus.

As a life and business coach I often design programs beginning with a 6-year vision in order to develop a plan of action that moves a life in that direction. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that just about nothing is going to go to plan, at least not this year.

Because of all the turmoil, I had adapted to planning on a weekly basis. As Covid restrictions kicked in, virtual school and professional Zoom meetings became the norm, curbside pickup for meals and groceries and just about everything became subject to availability and scheduling. I’ve gone from a 6-year vision to taking things hour by hour, and it’s great.

All we have is now. The past is gone and the future can’t do anything for us. 2020 has allowed me to laser focus on right now, and I’m thankful for that. I’m also thankful that you’re taking the time to read this article. I hope it has inspired you to spend a moment to think about what you’re thankful for right now.

No matter how long your journey appears to be, there is never more than this: one step, one breath, one moment… Now.
